MONIQUE FRIESEN,
BORN 1999
Monique Friesen is a Dutch crossmedia artist, living and working in Jeju island, South Korea. Her work is rooted in the small, often overlooked details of everyday life, the kind of moments most people pass by without noticing. Through different kind of media, she tells quiet, visual stories that feel a little dreamlike, a little absurd, and always full of curiosity.
Each piece is like a visual poem. An invitation to slow down, take a closer look, and maybe see the world a bit differently. There’s a calm, contemplative rhythm to her work, shaped by a deep love for storytelling and the appreciation of the ordinary. With touches of humor and a gentle sense of wonder, Monique creates art that doesn’t shout, but softly pulls you in.
She hopes her work sparks the same sense of curiosity and presence that inspires her every day.
